Saiva saint-poet (1705-42) was in his early years in the employ of the Nayakas of Madurai. He lived during a time of political and spiritual turmoil caused partly by the impact of European colonialism. Tayumanavar nourished the eternal values of the land and attempted a synthesis of Saiva Siddhanta and Advaitic Vedanta. Anandakkanni and Paraparakkanni are among his works. |
