Maratha ruler of Tanjavur between 1795 and 1832. He was a Treat patron of learning and the arts. He himself was a man of erudition and the author of a number of Sanskrit works. The Sarasvati Mahal in Tanjavur which has a vast collection of manuscripts and other records in various languages and various subjects is a monument to his wide-ranging scholarly interests. |
