A highly regarded Saiva saint who spent some of his early years as minister to a Pandyan king. The compositions of this saint are extremely moving and are also characterised by bridal mysticism. He is among the foremost figures of Southern Saivism and his Tiruvacakam and Tirukovaiyar form the eighth part of the Tirumurai. His Tiruvembavai was specially composed for the worship of the Lord by young women in the early hours of the morning. |
