The 59th Śankarācārya of Kanci Kamkoti Pītha (1638-1692), he was known as "Bhagavannāma Bodhendra." He and Tiruviśanallūr Ayyāvāl (qv) were foremost among those who propagated devotion through "nāma japa". Sri Bodhendra Svāmigal spread the glory of Rāma and Govinda while Sri Ayyāval propagated devotion to Siva. |
