The Sukhavati-vyuha Sutra which gives an account of Dharmakara (Jap. Hozo) Bodhisattva’s Vows and his eventual fulfillment of them. The central Sutra for Shinran and part of a threefold complex of Sutras which include the Sutra of Contemplation and the Smaller Pure Land Sutra, which describes the Pure Land in detail. The title of the Sutra appears in various forms: Sutra of Adornment of the Realm of Bliss, Sutra of Immeasurable Life, or Sutra of Limitless Life. |
